[MIDLANDS] 14 Injured after taxi rolls on N3
At least fourteen people have been injured after a taxi rolled on the N3 close to Balgowan off-ramp in the Midlands.
It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and after rolling a few times, the taxi landed on its side in the centre median of the highway.
At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found most of the passengers lying around the taxi. The jaws of life had to be used to cut one passenger out of the vehicle.
Three of the passengers sustained serious injuries to the neck and spine and eleven others sustained moderate injuries.
Two children between 3-5 years were among the passengers who sustained moderate injuries.
ER24 paramedics transported six of the patients to Edendale and Grey’s Hospital.
About eight other patients were transported to nearby hospitals by other emergency services.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
