[BRAAMFONTEIN] – Bystander left critical following shooting.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was left critically injured following a shooting on the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Braamfontein.

ER24 personnel were flagged down by the local authorities at 10h10.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was found lying on the side of the road. Assessments showed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was in a critical condition.

The man was treated for his injuries and provided with several advanced life support interventions before he was transported by another service to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further care.

It is understood that the man had been walking along the bridge when he was hit by a stray bullet.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
