[DUNCANVILLE] – 15 treated after fire breaks out in flats.

Fifteen people were treated for mild smoke inhalation this evening when a fire broke out in a bloke of flats on Springbok Avenue in Duncanville, south of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with the fire services, arrived on the scene and found the top floor of the flats well alight. Residents had already evacuated from the building and were now lining the sidewalk.
Fire services began to battle the blaze while paramedics assessed the residents.
Upon assessment, paramedics discovered that 15 patients had suffered from mild smoke inhalation.
Paramedics treated the patients on scene, providing the with medical oxygen. Once treated, the patients declined transportation to a hospital.
Fire services were able to extinguish the blaze after a short time.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
