ER24 and Mediclinic Cape Gate rescue demonstration
ER24 Cape Town and Mediclinic Cape Gate presented a rescue demonstration at the Mediclinic Cape Gate hospital grounds in Brackenfell this morning. The event had a staged accident scene in which two occupants had sustained injuries. Local SAPS attended the scene, ER24 paramedics from the North Metropole region as well as Brackenfell Fire & Rescue services put on a demonstration on how the various services go about handling such a collision and safely extricating and treating the patients. Rob Byrne from Traffic Net was the master of ceremonies at the event and spectators received a running commentary including Q&A sessions from the different services on scene to get better insight as to what goes on, on-scene while the services work together. After the demonstration spectators were given the opportunity to go on to the staging area to take photographs with the paramedics and rescue personnel as well as viewing the different rescue vehicles, response vehicles, ambulance and fire engine up close. Spectators, young and old, thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration. A big thank you to Mediclinic Cape Gate, Rob Byrne, Brackenfell SAPS, Brackenfell Fire & Rescue services and all the ER24 staff for making the event a success. Thank you to all the spectators who attended the event and we hope to see you next year at the 2013 demonstration.
