[ASHBURTON] – Two trucks collide leaving two injured.

Two men were left injured in the early hours of the morning when two trucks collided on the N3 highway in Ashburton, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with Pietermaritzburg Search and Rescue and Ashburton Fire, arrived on the scene at 02h30 to find one truck on the side of the road while another truck was found lying on its side 50 metres at the bottom of an embankment. The male passenger had already climbed out of the truck and was found on the roadside while the male driver was found lying trapped inside the vehicle.

Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, medics assessed the men and found that the driver and passenger had sustained moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and the driver provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
