[BARBERTON] – Head-on collision leaves two dead, three injured.

This morning, two people were killed and three children injured when two bakkies collided head-on on the R38, approximately 18km outside Barberton, Mpumalanga.
ER24 and other services arrived at 09h05 to find the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the road. A man and woman were seen lying trapped inside the one bakkie; two children were lying on the back of the vehicle while another child was lying on the road a short distance away.
Medics assessed the patients and found that the man and woman had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.
Two boys believed to be 16-years-old and a girl believed to be 11-years-old were in a serious condition.
The children were treated and provided with pain-relief medication before being transported to a private hospital for urgent care.
The local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
