[BENONI] Driver critical in single truck collision

A truck driver is in a critical condition after losing control of his vehicle and colliding with a retaining wall on the side of the N12 in Benoni this morning. The passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries in the incident.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 11:20 this morning along with the Fire Department and the Metro Police. The driver, a 23-year-old male, was found entrapped in the cab and was extracted while Advanced Life Support interventions were being administered. He was then flown to a private hospital by a private emergency medical helicopter for further care.

The 24-year-old male passenger was treated for minor injuries and transported to hospital by ER24 for further care.

As stated, law enforcement were on the scene for further investigations.
