[BISHOP LAVIS] Two taxis collide – one death, twenty six injured
A 28-year-old woman has died and 26 others have been injured in a collision between two taxis on the corner of Lavis Drive and 35th Avenue in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, this morning.
ER24 paramedics along with Lima Charlie 1, Metro, Fire & Rescue, Traffic and the SAPS were on the scene at 7:26 am. Multiple people were found to have been ejected and in need of help. Two patients, a man and a woman, had suffered critical injuries – they were treated with Advanced Life Support interventions and taken to Tygerberg Hospital by ER24 and Metro EMS, where unfortunately the 28-year-old woman later died. The man was still in a critical condition at the time of this report.
Eight others were found to have suffered moderate injuries and seventeen, minor injuries. 20 were transported to Elsies River Day Hospital by various services and 6 in total went to Tygerberg, while one moderately injured female was taken through to a private hospital by another private service.
The South African Police Services were on the scene for further investigations.
