[BOTSHABELO] Six killed, multiple injured in a two-vehicle collision

Six people have been killed and at least 9 others have been injured following an apparent head-on collision on the N8 direction Botshabelo this evening.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 17h30, they found multiple patients lying in the road. A light motor vehicle was found in the road while a bakkie was lying on its side a few metres from the vehicle.

Five people, among them two children and a baby, were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. Nine people were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries, while a young child had sustained critical injuries. She was airlifted to hospital for further medical care, but unfortunately shortly after arriving at the hospital she succumbed to her numerous injuries.

ER24 as well as various other medical services at the scene treated the patients before transporting them to various hospitals for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
