[BOUGHTON] – Vehicle rollover leaves woman seriously injured.

A 39-year-old woman was left seriously injured this morning when her vehicle rolled down an embankment and ended up in a stream off Mbubu Road in Boughton, Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07h50 to find the light motor vehicle lying on its roof in the stream. A woman was found lying partially entrapped inside the vehicle.

ER24 Rescue Medics had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. Once freed, medics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

The patient was treated for her injuries and was provided with pain-relief medication before she was transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
