[DELMAS] – Car rear-ends truck leaving man critically injured.

A 26-year-old man was left critically injured last night when his light motor vehicle rear-ended a truck on the N12 in Delmas.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 19h40 to find the light motor vehicle smashed beneath the rear of the truck, both found in the road.

On closer inspection, medics discovered a 26-year-old man lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle in a critical condition.

Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the man from the vehicle, an operation lasting over an hour.

Once freed, medics treated the man and provided with advanced life support interventions before he airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a private hospital in Johannesburg for urgent care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
