[DELMAS] One critical in collision with barrier and bridge

A man, believed to be in his thirties, is in a critical condition and another was left with moderate injuries when their vehicle collided with a barrier and bridge along the N12 in Delmas this morning.

At approximately 9am, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the N12 near the Bronkhorstpruit offramp where they found Provincial Emergency Services already attending to one of the occupants in the vehicle. Upon assessment, they found that the passenger of the vehicle sustained critical injuries to his legs. The driver of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries.

It is understood that the vehicle crashed into the barrier on the side of the road which ripped through the vehicle. The vehicle was found down a small embankment next to the bridge when paramedics arrived on the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known.

Both occupants were transported to Ahmed Kathrada Hospital for further medical care.

Local SAPS also attended the scene.
