[DORINGKLOOF] – Bakkie and car collide leaving five injured.

Five people were left injured yesterday morning following a collision between a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the M18 in Doringkloof, Centurion.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 09h30 to find the light motor vehicle on the side of the road while the bakkie was found in the left-hand lane. A man was found in the bakkie while a woman was found inside the light motor vehicle, both in a critical condition. Three children were also found seated inside the light motor vehicle with minor to moderate injuries.

Medics and Fire Services carefully extricated the patients from the vehicles, treated them for their injuries and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the two critically injured patients were airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital while the three children were transported by ambulance.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
