[ERMELO] Man critical following collision

A man sustained critical injuries following a collision between two vehicles on the N2, roughly 35kms from Ermelo this morning.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 09h30, they found a bakkie off the road on the grass as well as a bakkie standing in the yellow lane. Upon further assessment, paramedics found the driver of the bakkie in the yellow lane still entrapped and in a critical condition. The fire department had to extricate the man using the jaws of life.

The man was treated with advanced life support interventions at the scene before paramedics rushed him to hospital for further medical care.

No-one from the second bakkie was injured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
