[INTAKA ISLAND] Palm cutter critically injured in fall

A 30-year-old man has suffered critical injuries after falling onto a fence spike while allegedly trimming a palm tree on the Intaka Island reserve, Cape Town this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 14:20 along with Lima Charlie One. The man had been brought across from the island on a boat by local security and fellow workers to where our medics could gain access to him. The spike, which had pierced his chest and broken off, had been removed and the patient required Advanced Life Support interventions to try and stabilise him. He was then rushed to a private hospital in the area for further care.

It is unknown to ER24 as to how the man fell while trimming the palm tree.
