[KARINO] – Taxi crashes into barrier leaving twelve injured.

Twelve people were left injured early this morning when a taxi smashed into the roadside barrier on the N4 near Karino, Mpumalanga.
At approximately 03h40 ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find several other services already in attendance. A taxi was found lying on its side on the side of the road. The barrier had split and pierced through the taxi.
On closer inspection, medics found one patient lying trapped inside the taxi while eleven others were found seated on the side of the road.
The Provincial Fire Services had to use specialised tools to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, medics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped man was in a critical condition while the remaining eleven had sustained moderate injuries.
The patients were treated, and the critically injured man provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
