[KEMPTON PARK] – Multiple vehicle collision leave woman critically injured.

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was critically injured this evening in a multiple vehicle collision on the R21 near the R23 in Kempton Park.
ER24 and other services arrived at 18h30 to find that a bakkie, four trucks and two light motor vehicles had collided and were now obstructing all highway lanes.
On closer inspection, medics found a woman lying trapped inside the bakkie in the driver’s seat. Assessments showed that the woman had sustained several injuries and was in a critical condition.
Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the woman from the bakkie, an operation lasting approximately one hour.
Once released, medics treated the woman and provided her with several advanced life support interventions before being transported to a nearby provincial hospital for further care.
Fortunately, no other injuries were discovered on the scene.
