[KHAYELITSHA] – Bakkie rollover leaves sixteen injured.
Sixteen people were left injured this morning when the bakkie they were travelling in rolled off the N2 northbound in Khayelitsha, Western Cape.
An ER24 employee was on their way to work when the bakkie overturned in front of them, ejecting several people off the back of the vehicle.
ER24 paramedics, along with the Western Cape Ambulance Service and Khayelitsha Fire, arrived on the scene at 08h20 to find a bakkie lying in the one lane of the road. Several people were found lying around on the scene.
Medics assessed the patients and found that one man had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition while fifteen others had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were found on the scene.
The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured man provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
