[KHAYELITSHA] – Head-on collision leaves eight injured.
Eight people were left injured this morning, two of them critically, when two light motor vehicles collided head-on on Spine in Khayelitsha, Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, Metro and Western Cape Fire Services, arrived on the scene to find the two light motor vehicles parked on the side of the road. One woman was found lying trapped inside the one vehicle while seven other people were found around the scene.
It is understood that seven people had been travelling in one vehicle while the second vehicle had a single occupant.
Rescue Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the entrapped woman from the vehicle.
Once freed, medics assessed the patients and found that two people were in a critical condition while six others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to various provincial hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
