[KRAAIFONTEIN] One killed, multiple others injured in collision
One person was killed and 26 others were left injured following a collision between a truck transporting workers and a vehicle on Old Paarl road in Bloekombos, Kraaifontein Saturday night.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at approximately 20h30, they found multiple people at the scene. Two people were found entrapped in the vehicle and Metro EMS had to extricate them using the jaws of life. One of the patients had sustained serious injuries. The other patient had sustained moderate injuries.
Upon further assessment, paramedics also found the driver of the truck lying underneath the truck. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to their multiple injuries at the scene and was declared dead by paramedics.
A further 24 patients were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.
ER24, Life Healthcare as well as Metro EMS treated the injured at the scene before transporting them to hospital for further medical care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
