[KURUMAN] – Head-on collision leaves seven dead, three critical.

This morning, seven people were killed and three others left in critical condition when two light motor vehicles collided head-on on the R31, approximately 15km outside Kuruman, Northern Cape.
ER24 and other services arrived on the scene shortly before 12h00 and found one vehicle on its roof on the road while another light motor vehicle was some distance away from the road.
On closer inspection, medics found five people, including a child, lying inside the one vehicle. Unfortunately, all five patients had already succumbed to their injuries and were later declared dead.
On inspection of the second vehicle, medics found that two patients had sustained fatal injuries while three others were in critical condition.
Medics treated the patients and provided the three critically injured with advanced life support. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
