[MATHOLESVILLE] – Nine killed in assault.

Nine men were killed this afternoon when they were assaulted on Enock Sontonga Road in Matholesville, Roodepoort.

ER24 paramedics, along with Provincial Services, arrived on the scene after 16h00 to find several bodies lying in the road.

Medics assessed the men and found that eight men had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for them and they were later declared dead.

Two other men were found with several injuries and were in a critical condition.

Medics treated the patients and provided the two men with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the men were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care. Unfortunately, at hospital, one of the critically injured patients succumbed to his injuries.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
