[MIDRAND] Horserider critical after being kicked

A 40-year-old woman is in a critical condition after being kicked in the head by the horse she had been riding at an equestrian centre in Midrand this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 16:55 to find the rider on the ground surrounded by her family. Advanced Life Support interventions were used to stabilise the critically injured patient before she was flown by another services’ medical helicopter to a private hospital for further care.

It is believed that she had been thrown from the horse before being kicked. Community Emergency Response CERT was also on the scene and provided this image.
