[MIDRAND] – One killed, another injured in two bakkie collision.

One man was killed and another left injured when a bakkie rear-ended another on the N1 south-bound highway in Midrand.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 11h00 to find a small, wrecked bakkie on the left-hand side of the highway while a second bakkie was found in the fast lane.

Medics assessed the patients and found the driver of the small bakkie had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

The driver of the second vehicle was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. The man was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital by another service.

It is believed that the small bakkie had broken down in the middle of the highway. The driver had climbed out of the vehicle and was struck by the second bakkie.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
