[MKONDENI] – Man left critical in industrial accident.

A 24-year-old man was left critically injured this morning in an industrial accident at a factory in the Mkondeni area, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with the Pietermaritzburg Fire and Rescue and another private service, arrived on the scene at 09h30.

On scene, medics and Rescue personnel were led to the machine where the patient was found. Closer inspections showed that the man had his hand caught inside a large machine.

Pietermaritzburg Fire Services had to partially dismantle the machine to free the patient’s hand.

Once freed, medics found that the man had sustained significant injuries to his hand and arm, leaving him in a critical condition.

The man was treated and provided with advanced life support intervention before he was transported by another service to a nearby hospital.
