NEW HANOVER – One killed, three injured in single vehicle rollover

One person has been killed and three others left injured following a single vehicle rollover on the R33 in New Hanover in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 14h00, they found the provincial EMS as well as paramedics from the military already in attendance. Upon further assessment, they found the provincial EMS administering CPR to one of the patients lying in the road. The patient was found to be in a critical condition. ER24 assisted with advanced life support interventions before transporting the man to hospital for further medical care.

Another man on the scene had unfortunately sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Two others had sustained moderate injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene.
