[NEW REDRUTH] Pedestrian killed on N12 East

A man believed to be around 30 years of age has been killed while allegedly trying to cross the N12 freeway just before the Reading Interchange near Redruth, North of Alberton this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 17:10. The man was found lying face down in the right-hand lane of the road, having suffered fatal injuries. He had been knocked down by a light motor vehicle. He unfortunately showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police arrived shortly after for investigations and to take over the scene of the incident.
