[NEWLANDS] – Rear-end collision leaves seven injured.
Seven people were left injured this afternoon following a rear-end collision between a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the N2 in Newlands, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene after 14h00 to find the bakkie situated in the middle of the road. Several people were found walking around the scene.
On closer inspection, medics found a man lying trapped inside the driver seat of the bakkie with moderate injuries. Six other people were found walking around on the scene, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, medics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to a nearby private hospital for further care.
The vehicle that had been rear-ended by the bakkie was not found on the scene.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
