[NEWLANDS] – Two-vehicle collision leaves three injured.

Three people were left injured last night when two light motor vehicles collided at the Ontdekkers and Plateau Road intersection in Newlands.

ER24 paramedics, along with the City of Johannesburg EMS, arrived on the scene at 17h37 to find one vehicle on the centre median while the second vehicle was found parked on the side of the road.

On inspection, medics found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, lying trapped inside her vehicle. ER24 and City of Johannesburg Rescue had to use specialised equipment to free to woman from the vehicle.

Once the woman had been freed, medics assessed the patients and found that one woman had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition while the two other patients sustained only minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and the seriously injured woman provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
