[PEACEHAVEN] Running event participant dies following collapse

A 55-year-old man has died after he collapsed on a golf course during a 5 km running event in the Vereeniging suburb of Peacehaven yesterday morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 8:54 am, Saturday the 4th of January 2020, to find that bystanders had already initiated CPR. Paramedics took over, using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in an attempt to resuscitate the patient. Advanced Life Support interventions were administered while CPR continued for a full hour but unfortunately the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
