[PIETERMARITZBURG CBD] – Woman left seriously injured in apparent hit-and-run.

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was left seriously injured when she was struck by a light motor vehicle at the Boshoff and Pietermaritz Road intersection in Pietermaritzburg CBD.

ER24 paramedics were dispatched to the scene, arriving at 08h16.

On scene, medics found the female patient lying in the middle of the road.

Medics assessed the patient and found that she had sustained injuries to her face and back, leaving her in a serious condition.

The woman was treated for her injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before she was transported to Northdale Provincial Hospital for further care.

The vehicle that had struck the woman was not found on the scene.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
