[POLOKWANE] Six dead in head-on collision

Six people have died in a head-on collision between two motor vehicles on the N1 North, 40km outside Polokwane, this evening (Friday 16 Sept.) Two people survived the incident, a father and child, who suffered critical and serious injuries respectively.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 22:29 along with two other private services, the Fire Department and SAPS. All of the adult male occupants from a VW Golf Sedan were found to have suffered fatal injuries. One had been ejected from the vehicle and the other three were still entrapped in the vehicle. None of the men showed any signs of life and were declared dead on arrival.

The second vehicle involved was a Mazda twin-cab bakkie. An adult female, believed to be the wife of the surviving father and child, was found to have suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was also declared dead on arrival by the EMS services. The father, believed to be in his early 30s, was found in a critical condition and the child, of unknown gender, in a serious condition. Both were treated and transported to Botlokwa Hospital for further care by another of the private EMS services on the scene.

As stated, the South African Police Services were on the scene for further investigations.
