[POTCHEFSTROOM] 21 injured in collision between a taxi and truck

Twenty-one patients, among them school children, were left injured following a collision between a taxi and a truck approximately 10kms from Potchefstroom this morning.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 07h30, they found most of the patients outside of the taxi. Four children were found entrapped in the taxi and the truck driver was also entrapped in his truck. The fire department had to extricate all of the entrapped using the jaws of life.

Upon further assessment, paramedics found that nineteen patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and two sustained serious injuries.

ER24, as well as various other medical services at the scene, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but police were on the scene for further investigations.
