[PRETORIA EAST] – Two injured in a cash-in-transit heist.

Last night, two men were injured following a cash-in-transit heist on The N4 highway near the Watermeyer turnoff in Pretoria East.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 21h00 to find the local authorities already in attendance. A security van was found on its roof in the fast lane while several other vehicles were parked some distance away. Three of the vehicles were well alight.
On closer inspection, medics found two male security officers lying near the barriers.
Medics assessed the men and found that one was in a critical condition while the other had escaped with minor injuries.
The men were treated, and the critically injured man was provided with advanced life support. Once treated, the one man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital while the other man was transported by ambulance.
The highway was closed for some time due to the incident.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the details surrounding this incident.
