[R501] – Truck and car collide, leaving one dead and another injured.

This afternoon, one man was killed and another injured when a truck and a small bakkie collided on the R501 between Carletonville and Potchefstroom.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 14h32 to find a bakkie on its roof next to the road. A truck and trailer were found some distance off into the veld.
On closer inspection, medics found a man in his 30s lying trapped inside the bakkie while a man in his 40s was walking near the truck.
Medics assessed the men and found that the man near the truck had sustained minor injuries while the entrapped man had already succumbed to his injuries. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead.
The patient with minor injuries was treated and transported to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
