[RUIMSIG] Sixteen injured in a multiple-vehicle collision
Sixteen people, among them school children, were left injured following a multiple-vehicle collision on Doreen road in Ruimsig this morning.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 07h00, they found most of the patients outside of the vehicles. A minibus transporting school children were among the vehicles in the collision. Upon further assessment, paramedics found two adults still entrapped in the minibus. They had to be extricated by the fire department using the jaws of life. Both of them sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The rest of the patients were found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
ER24, as well as various other medical services at the scene, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
