[TOWNHILL] – Lucky escaped after truck crashes down embankment.

Two men escaped serious injury yesterday afternoon when a truck crashed through an ARMCO barrier and drove 50 metres down an embankment off the N3 highway in Townhill, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene to find a bakkie parked on the side of the road. A large truck was found at the bottom of a large embankment.

ER24 Rescue Medics had to use various rope rescue tools to make their way down to the truck. Once there, medics found that two men had sustained only minor to moderate injuries.

Medics treated the patients and thereafter brought them back to the road to the awaiting ambulances which transported them to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
