[VAN REENEN] Sixteen injured in taxi rollover
Sixteen adults have been injured, two of them critically, after the taxi they were travelling in rolled on the N3 at the bottom of Van Reenen’s Pass this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics were returning from another incident and came across the scene at 16:48, just after it had happened. Some of the passengers were still inside the taxi and others had been ejected from the taxi as it rolled. A 46-year-old female and a 32-year-old female were found in a critical condition. They were treated using Advanced Life Support interventions before being transported to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital for further care. ER24 also treated and transported another female patient who had suffered moderate injuries and four male patients who had suffered minor injuries. They were all taken to Ladysmith Provincial.
The Provincial Emergency Medical Services as well as two other private services on the scene treated and transported the remaining nine patients to hospital for further care.
The N3TC and RTI services were also on-scene for investigations.
