[VAN RIEBEECK PARK] Security guard injured in an apparent cash-in-transit heist

A security guard was injured following an apparent cash-in-transit heist on the P91 in Van Riebeeck Park in Gauteng this evening.

An ER24 branch manager came across the scene at approximately 18H30 and only intervened until it was safe to do so. Upon further assessment, he found that the security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the face. He treated and stabilised the man at the scene before the man was flown by medical helicopter to hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics but police were on the scene for further investigations.
