[VANDERBIJLPARK] Three killed in head-on collision

Three people have died and two have been injured in a head-on collision between a bakkie and a Fortuner on the N1 North, near the Vanderbijlpark offramp this evening.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at around 20:15 along with Provincial Emergency Medical Services and another private medical service. A man believed to be in his 40s was found entrapped in the wreckage of the bakkie. He showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival. A man and a woman, believed to be in-laws and in their late 20s/early 30s, were found entrapped in the Fortuner. They too showed no signs of life and were declared dead on arrival.

An adult male and adult female who were also travelling in the Fortuner were found to have suffered minor injuries and were treated and transported by both GPG and the other private service on the scene to Sebokeng Hospital for further care.

The South African Police Services were on scene for further investigation and awaiting the Fire Department for extraction of the deceased.
