[VEREENIGING] – Train crashes into bakkie killing man.

A man, believed to be in his 60s, was killed yesterday afternoon when a train crashed into the side of his car at the Van Riet Louw Crossing in Vereeniging.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 16h40 to find the train and car approximately 600 metres from the crossing.

On closer inspection, medics discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, lying trapped inside the car.

Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

Fortunately, no-one from the train sustained any injuries.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
