[WITBANK] – Lucky escape after mall robbery.

Several people, including three ER24 paramedics, were lucky to escape injury following a robbery at a mall in Witbank, Mpumalanga.

Three ER24 paramedics were seated inside a restaurant when they heard a sound like a gunshot coming from the entrance of the mall.

Medics proceeded to investigate and found an armed assailant in the doorway.

Several members of the public and the ER24 staff managed to escape into the nearby restaurant, barricading themselves in the kitchen.

After several minutes, medics exited the restaurant and investigated the situation, finding that the nearby jewellery store had been robbed.

Medics assessed several people that had been inside the shop at the time of the robbery, and found that they had escaped injury, although were visibly shaken.

No shoppers were transported to hospital following this incident.

The details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
