[KLIPHEUWEL] – Light delivery vehicle overturns leaving seventeen injured.
Seventeen people were left injured this morning when a light delivery vehicle overturned, ejecting the occupants off the back, on Slent Road in Klipheuwel in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with the Metro Services and Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene to find the vehicle lying on its side in the left-hand lane. Numerous patients were found lying scattered on the side of the road.
Paramedics set up a triage area and began to assess the patients, finding that sixteen had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate while one man had sustained critical injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the critically injured patient was airlifted by the Air Mercy Service Medical Helicopter to Tygerburg Provincial Hospital for urgent treatment. The remaining patients were transported by ER24 and Metro Services to various hospitals for further treatment.
It is believed that the passengers had been ejected off the back of the vehicle when it overturned.
