[MIDRAND] – Two killed, eight injured in taxi rollover.

Two women were killed and eight others injured this afternoon following a taxi rollover on the N1 north-bound between Allendale and New Road in Midrand.

ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side down a small embankment. Several people were found lying scattered around the scene.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the bodies of two women lying near the vehicle. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.

Eight other people were assessed on the scene. All eight people had sustained moderate to serious injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

  • When will this lawlessness end…??!! I understand that taxi drivers are under pressure to do as many trips as they can to earn their keep but at what cost????! There is no regard for the passengers they transport…. The passengers are innocent people just trying to get to work and yet their lives are at the mercy of these taxi drivers…. It’s super unfair!! C’mon SA government…. Up your game!!!!!
