[POTCHEFSTROOM] One dead, two critical airlifted following head-on collision
A 62-year-old man has died and two critical patients are being airlifted to hospital after prolonged entrapments following a head-on collision between a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the N12 outside Potchefstroom this evening. Three others sustained moderate to serious injuries in the incident.
ER24 paramedics and other services were on the scene at 20:20. A 57-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman needed to be extracted by the Fire Department from their vehicles before the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter could airlift them to a private hospital in Lenasia. The three other patients were treated and transported by other services to Potchefstroom provincial hospital. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the 62-year-old man and he was declared dead on the scene.
The South African Police and Traffic services were on hand for further investigations.
