Teenage pedestrian’s leg partially amputated

An 18-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when a vehicle hit her on the R24 near Krugersdorp last night. The screaming teenager was found lying along the road, in pain. Her leg was partially amputated in the collision and she also sustained abdominal injuries. ER24 paramedics, who were alerted about the scene by bystanders, immediately treated the patient. Stabilisation of the teenager continued en route to Leratong Provincial Hospital where she would receive further medical care. The vehicle that hit her was not found on scene. The incident is under investigation by local authorities.
